The real act of
marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue.
It's a choice you make - not just on your wedding day, but over and over again
- and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife ~ Barbara De Angelis
You may probably ask this question “now that I have married what
next?” The hide and seek game is over. All the dribbling is now over because you have finally walked her down the aisle. You have
waited and dreamed for this day to come. Now your dream has eventually come
through as she is now your wife.
As the day goes by, you started having a feeling of what
should be the next thing in your marriage. Don’t be encumbered with such a
thought because the answer is already with you.
Dear husband, go all out in your love for your wife – a love
marked by giving, not getting. Your word must evoke her beauty. Everything you
do and say should be designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in
dazzling white silk, radiant in sanctity. By doing so, you are doing your
marriage a favor. Also, honor her and don’t deal with her treacherously.
You must know it is time to start investing in your home. A time
to lay a solid foundation for the kind of home you have dreamt of: the peaceful
and harmonious home you desire. Homes like this can be achieved by your
tireless investment to the development of it. You must invest your time, money,
affection, love, emotion and everything you have got to make your dream home
come through. Don’t be like people who realized after many years of a marriage
that the kind of home they have built is not what they dreamt of.
Lastly, the leadership of your home is in your hands. A leader
gives the model and structure to be followed. So you have to provide leadership
to your wife not by domineering but by cherishing.
Dear wife, understand and support your husband. Most
importantly, submit to your husband as he exercises leadership. Don’t give yourself
to nagging. If he made some mistakes, learn to forgive and correct in love. Be
proud of him and do appreciate him when he carries out his responsibilities
well.
“Let the wife make
the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave ~ Martin
Luther”
You are no longer two but one. So you and your wife must
make sure you don’t allow negative influences in your marriage. A negative influence can put asunder between
you and your wife. It is your duty to defend the unity of your home. You must
be vigilant and alert to any threat to your marriage. Also, there must not be a
communication gap. Communication is very important because of its ability to
foster unity. Through communication, you get to know each other well: you
become best of friends. “Happy
is the man who finds a true friend, and far happier is he who finds that true
friend in his wife~
Franz Schubert”
A happy home is a desire of many but only a few actually
have it. Couples that are ready to take responsibilities and defend the oneness
of their home will enjoy their home.
